People are furious because someone drove an F40 up a ski slope...

... They are wrong, it's awesome!

You can read all about it on Red Bull Japan.

Drift, Jump, Drift.

Think what you will about drifting but 100% commitment combined with a sideways jump always gets our vote!

Good Hills Speed

Pure Porsche porn.

"When we are not busy shooting client work we like to shoot some personal projects with our friends and our buddy Shinji just happens to own a RWB 964 named "Good Hills Speed". Like all RWB's customers Shinji-san is passionate about his Porsches and is a very humble, fun and kind hearted person.

We asked Shinji-san "Why do you like RWB?" and Shinji made sure to tell us the most important key points of his car in English.

Please enjoy our fun interview."

So, Red Bull does give you wings?..

Why does the official cross the road?

An official at a Red Bull event for tsunami victims in Chiba Japan decided it was time to get to the other side right as Sebastian Buemi's RB6 was making a pass.

What role lingering Fukushima radiation played in his decision making is unknown but perhaps it was those free cans of the sticky pink stuff that allowed the man do to a reasonable frightened deer imitation and avoid getting his legs sliced off.

He was not seriously harmed, despite the hard landing.

Fukushima Drift

While I'm sure disaster pictures bring lots of precious page views, as car guys we prefer to send our wishes remembering that, among many other things, our Japanese friends are leaders in car culture, innovation and passion.

Hang in there, Tracktards!

Remi Schouten of Okydokyo.com shot these two great clips last year, one is from a Drift matsuri in Fukushima, the second from the 2010 Nismo festival at Fuji Speedway. Enjoy them.

Drift Matsuri

No comments:

I'm a sucker for a beautifully photographed clip like this one, by Remi Schouten from okidokyo.com.
NIght drifting, some serious bbq, but mi favorite shot has to be the guy "picking up" his own front bumper cover at around :45 seconds. Have a look.

"November 13 and 14, another crazy drift matsuri took place at Ebisu Circuit in Japan. This drifting event is one-of-kind, pretty much anything is allowed, just use your head a little.

People buy special "drift missiles" (very cheap drift cars) not having to worry about damaging it. This makes this drift event so special and allows people to really go to the limit and a lot of times over the limit. This is the ultimate way to learn drifting.

The atmosphere at this event is just amazing, making it a very worth while event to visit even when not drifting.

This is my first time making a video with a DSLR (Canon 550D), still have to get the hang of manual focus, shutter-speed etc etc. But that's what makes it more fun!"

Yabai!

Ok,  we did not want to single out the French, Japanese announcers get pretty excited with their motorsport too.  Here is a compilation featuring some of the epic Senna vs Prost battles narrated with with distinctive JDM flair!

Quite amazing,  Senna must have blocked Prost-o more times in one season than Schumacher did all of his opponents during his whole career.

And Nick Heidfeld, who voiced his worries about accidents due to the new wide, flat front wings the 2009 cars will sport, might want to take a look at how close it's possible to race without crashing....or, as in the case of the 1990 Japanese GP, how you could put those wide wings to use by tossing your opponent into the weeds.

And here is the rest of it.

Super SUGO!

Sporting enough graphics to make a NASCAR broadcast look minimalist and looking like a cross between a reality and one of those famous sadistic Japanese game shows, here is the recent Super GT race from Sugo.

At around 12 minutes when the leading Lexus has trouble firing up, one of the drivers looks more like someone had sneaked some nasty red peppers in his drink bottle.

Another amusing gimmick is an incar shot which fast forwards over the boring parts... All in all, this is very fun to watch even if you don't understand one word.

Highly recommended entertainment from the land where even Ferrari 430 GT and Porsches GT3's are are made to look like they are out of a manga cartoon!
