Watch Kimi Raikkonen hoon a 730 HP Ferrari F12

If you still clung to any faint hope Fernando Alonso might stay at Ferrari after all, forget it.

In Brazil Kimi would have gotten a radio call rather than being allowed to have fun holding up Fernando despite much older tires...

...and you certainly would not have seen Ferrari release a clip of just Kimi, without Alonso,  doing press duties with and F12 at Fiorano.

Kimi being Kimi,  he gives some of the the journos in the right seat some blank WTF stares, although, I did catch at least one smile...

Anyway,  let's hope Kimi and Vettel are more compatible stile wise and that next year, Ferrari can build them a car they can both find "simpatica".

Back to the clip, can I point out the awesome exhaust plume that seems to be shooting out of the left exhaust?

Ferrari F12 Berlinetta VIdeo Review By Autocar

I've been waiting for this one...

The Ferrari F12 Berlinetta is a car that has to be seen in person to fully appreciate.  Getting to drive it, well,  I admit... a bit jealous!

Ferrari F12Berlinetta vs Pagani Huayra On Track Video.

1 comment:

Bit of an apples and oranges comparison at Fiorano for an article on Germany's Sport Auto we can't find trace of anywhere.

In any case, we learn the Pagani sounds like an electric drill and has the most un-ergonomic, unreadable instrument ever. The Ferrari's naturally aspirated V12 sounds like, what would Jezza say... God gargling?

Enjoy.

Pagani Huayra vs Ferrari F12

Worth your time for the sounds alone, especially out of the F12. This is a clip presumably from a future comparo article on Sport Auto. Just sit back and enjoy.

Horse risotto.

3 comments:

Of course it's a journalist's job to get flown to Italy, fed risotto and press releases and come up with something tangible after three laps at Fiorano and 2 hours with the car on public roads.  It's a talent and some are better than others at it but see how many fed talking points you pick out in all these reviews.

Aero Bridge? Quick, pointy steering? "These cars are used by customers more than any other Ferrari? It's smaller on the outside than the 599? It's not intimidating?   What else can you find?

Then as a bonus game, guess how many's ...heroic sideways footage is just edited clips of someone else driving. Have fun!

The Axis idea of a car review goes something like THIS, ...which is probably why we'll never be allowed to do car reviews, ever!

Downforce without wings

16 comments:

Ferrari have been working on it for years: how to create usable levels of downforce without resorting to wings on scaffolding. The first was the 360 Modena which made use of a working diffuser and what was essentially a wing mounter under the rear valance.

With the F12 Berlinetta, Ferrari have achieved a GT car faster on track than their last super car, the no compromise Enzo.   Aero is part of the package and once again Ferrari is leading down a different path than other manufacturers in the segment.   No wings,  the whole car is an aerodynamic device producing downforce from as little as 150 km/h-93mph while having close to Prius levels of drag.

Add engine and vehicle dynamics innovations and the F12 will be the new benchmark.

Ferrari F12 "in the flesh"

Thanks to our friend Andrea for digging these up somehow.  I suspect the car looks stunning in parson.
