"It's inspired by a plane taking off..."

A perk of being the millionaire publisher of the best Car magazine on the planet is that you get invited to the Costa Smeralda to ride around in the new, amazing Huayra with Horacio Pagani himself. Takes considerable bravery to drive a 720 hp twin turbo that fast on tight and dusty sardinian roads!

Not much I can add to this great video clip by Harry Metcalfe other that perhaps, that the idea of a car inspired "by an airplane taking off" is not really what tracktards want to hear necessarily (like they are buying Paganis anyway...ha!).
But, damn the Huayra does sound and look like a fighter on afterburners.

Coming soon to an issue of EVO near you

  1. Those turbos spooling up - that's the noise I expect to hear as I die.

  2. Very nice car but the inside looks very 'bling' in a bad way rather than 'classy'. Sounds rather nice and the outside it fantastic.

  4. What's with the asymmetrical opening of the flying back flaps?

  5. It probably has to do with steering input, and which side of the car needs more downforce at that time.

  6. @David
I doubt they have managed to pull that off. We had a similar thing in F1 at some point for straight line aero testing only but it was really delicate with crosswinds and highly destabilizing under hard braking.

Still thinking this might be simple hydraulic glitches...

  7. The sound reminds me of being at the dentists!

  8. The dash looks like a cheap chinese stereo, with its multicolor LEDs and all that. Not what I would want in a car that I am paying big dinero for.

  9. I imagine china would be a place where they will sell a few...

  10. the independent flaps are supposed to work like ...well, like on a plane. the unloaded side would get more angle to push it down. It was actually invented by Nissan back in the 60s I think.
