(EVO)
Well I'm not going to say anything but what would you rather, the über Supra or the big Fiat?
OK just one thing, rather than make funny Italian accents, maybe Evo testers should learn to wear a harness properly. Or was that the only way it would fit over their beer gut? Check it out, along with more great sounds, after the jump!

Pretty cool how the yellow stripe continues onto the brake calipers but otherwise a bit silly, don't you think?

Ferrari 599 GTO, Nürburgring onboard

This first Nürburgring Ferrari 599 GTO onboard video may not be an especially fast lap, in fact there are some huge lifts where there really should not be any and some serious pussyfooting around the twisty sections but, on the plus side he gets up to 182 mph on the back straight and that's with a slow exit out of the Galgenkopf corner.
The big Fiat's exhaust note, when you catch a bit of it through the wind noise, is just glorious.
Still, you'd think if you owned a GTO you could spring for a full version of editing software and a proper GPS data recorder...look at that GPS map and jumpy speed display! Get a Traqmate buddy! :)

599 GTO: Hmmmm, Donuts!
by
AC
1 comment:
Among many other performance goodies, the Ferrari 599 GTO will get a version of the 599XX "wheel donut" aerodynamic fairing on the outside of the brake disk, derived from the now banned F1 wheel fairing pioneered by Ferrari 2009. Banned from F1 maybe but the aftermarket "stunner" market will will be jumping for joy at the opportunity to pass off brake dust shields as "performance" components! The aero work on the GTO is impressive, but it's probably the electronics that have made the most progress. Interesting that they would use data graphs showing Nürburgring corners rather than Fiorano. That's a change for Ferrari.
A note on the videos, the Italian to English translation is, to say the least, clunky. When they refer to the GTO being the maximum expression of Ferrari's "sportsmanship", what they mean is "sportiness" or "performance". When they refer to "muffling" they really mean "damping" and so on and so forth. But you'll get the idea.
More after the jump. Don't forget to try out the GTO configurator on Ferrari.com

Expensive Stripes.

Option PNT6 on the Ferrari 599 GTO order sheet, "Historic GTO Stripes" runs a cool $9500 with tax but don't worry, if you haven't bought an F40, a couple of Scuderias and at least one Enzo in the past you are not going to get your mitts on one, even if you could.
Autogespot , the ones who first published that dodgy white GTO picture that has been making the rounds and claimed as an exclusive here and there now have gotten a hold of what purports to be an order sheet for the car. Check it out, what options would you add?
