Green Hell Code Brown: Maybe The Luckiest Porsche GT2 RS Driver Ever.

Chances of NOT hitting anything after spinning on the right kink past Flugplatz must be minimal.  If we were at 180 km/h or so in a crappy rented Scirocco, this GT2 RS had to be going at least 230.   Bonus luck not getting t-boned by anyone coming around that blind-ish corner.

Good thing Curbstone Track Days are a full service event organizer and provide underwear laundering services on site.

  1. Life Lessons: Do not try to keep up with a Carrera GT, even if you're in a GT2 RS.

  3. Instructor onboard? Because that was classic loss of talent induced by car-inflated-ego, inflamed by keepup-itis

  4. He did a good job going quickly to "2 Feet IN". That saved the car from major barrier damage

  5. Is it just me or does it seem the whole issue is that he went too fast for that area and lost steering feel from the front? That would have him still drifting over to the left mid bounce, which could have lead his wheel to get more steering angle than intended, and lead to the corrections that initiated the spin.

    1. You can clearly see he is driving beyond his limits on that part. He was all over the place on the bridge and should have cooled it off. If there is one thing I know about that section is that you NEED to select a line and stick to it esp with a 911.

  6. Nice driving in general. But did you read the Nurburgring safety guidelines? You violated two major ones:

    1. You are not allowed to pass on the right on the Nurburgring. You do so twice.
    2. If you get in an accident or spin out, which you did, you are not allowed to reverse, turn around or start driving again. You are to pull your car over to the side and call for help. Turning around like you did could have caused a serious accident for you or for someone else.

Driving is fun, and you seem to be a generally good driver. Please just follow the safety rules a bit more closely, because not doing so not only puts you at risk but others as well, and that's not fair to others.

    Thanks.

    2. Not applicable on trackdays, as is the case. If you notice there are also marshalls trackside.

Not to excuse the piss poor reentry though.

    3. As someone else said, those rules are for the Terroristenfahrt days. I'm surprised closed track day organizers don't hire flaggers though, maybe some do?

  7. Shades of the 911 v. Mustang ("I will have you nemesis!") video come to mind before the spin.

  8. I actually had a moment like that, granted much lower speeds, much cheaper car. But I hydroplaned on No Name Straight at Lime Rock, the car spun a few times I ended up in the grass with zero damage. And the barriers are close on that straight.

Probably one of the best feelings in the world to go from "I just wrote off a car" to "No damage!"
