Instant Depreciation

Ferrari owners have a reputation, it's not a good one. It's been that way forever as Il Commendatore famously said "there are Ferrari owners and Ferrari drivers".

Question is, crashing your just delivered 458 right outside the Ferrari factory gates after doing burnouts and pulls on Maranello city streets makes it
A: epically embarrassing or
B: more convenient for repairs?

Well, they do say cars depreciate as soon as they leave the showroom...

Ok so thanks to one of our readers, the facts of the case emerge and spoil it a little bit: the car is claimed to be a rental which in turn explains whi renting exotics is so expensive! Let's face it, if you were going to crash a $200k + rental, more fun to do it at the Nurburgring than on a back street of Maranello. A further win would be that you might make Darwin happy! Win.

  3. If ever there's a video to show truth to 'more money than sense' or 'more money than ability' that's it.
As for the Marenello workers... they must be heartened that whilst tools like this one drive Ferraris they'll always have jobs.
And having crashed a 205GTi on the first day I had it; I share his pain; still - 25 years later!

  5. Hi ... sorry to tell you that the information is not entirely true ...
That ferrari is NOT 24 hours, and I guarantee it because I have conducted about a month ago ... it is a rental unit belonging to the store Pit Lane.
I take some pictures, look at plates and look a t me ;)!

  6. See? Proof that Montoya is right! Under steering pigs, that's all they are...

    I KID!I KID!

  7. Curious to find out what "non understeering pig" car Montoya went out and bought after the 200 miles.
You'd think he would have heard of getting an alignment and fitting wider front tires though ;)

  8. Even in it's spanked state. It's still better looking than the new McLaren MP4-12c

  9. Look at it this way - at least the car was put out of its misery before spending a lifetime(probably short as well) as a exotic rental getting beat on by tards.

  10. @AC: Dunno if it was right after dumping the 360, but I know he has the FW23 he drove to victory in Monaco... He posted a picture of it in tweeter some time ago but I couldn't find it...

  11. AC - I think it was GJ and Rad who said they were "understeering pigs." As for JPM, he seems very happy with the ZR-1 and made it look very nicely balanced at the Lutz Ring, don't you think?

  12. Never mind the 360, GJ found the Scuderia was understeering while dodging cones in a parking lot, CG did not seem to be too displeased with his Scud at Monticello though.
That ZR1 video was fun but you can't tell anything from it, other than the write probably needed to change his undies after it :)
