Harris monkeys with the McLaren Mp4-12c

Nice review, missing one obvious question from our tracktard point of view: in the rain we would have put the engine to "track" but the suspension on "soft", can you do that on the. 12c?? I certainly hope the answer is yes...

But what I'm guessing is that keeping it in stiff mode in the wet is the only way to get some photo friendly slides going in this, the only super car I'm aware of with an open differential, a car not even Lewis Hamilton can slide properly as the video after the jump suggests...

  1. I'm pretty sure you could do that, I would assume you would just leave the left dial (suspension) all the way to the left and put the right one (engine) all the way to the right :)

  2. That video has nothing to do with the diff. That is electronic retardation of the throttle and is unrelatd to the diff. Stop fueling the diff fire with misinfo.

  3. Are you saying the McLaren has a retarded throttle? :)

  4. Well the thing has grown on me like a rash and if I was in the odd position to have one or two 458's I'd have the former. It's obviously totally moved the goalposts.

  5. please explain how can a car without a locking diff can do sideways (drift) properly?

  6. In my opinion drifting, and even hard track driving, without a proper locking diff is like running through an obstacle course with a debilitating injury in one leg. Can you do it? Sure. But it sure as hell doesn't it look pretty, and it sure as hell isn't impressing anyone.
