Can I have 4 laps of your time, Mr Mosley?

...and you too Mr. Ecclestone. Signor Di Montezemolo, Herr Haug, you might take a look as well for future reference. I would like you to pay particular attention to the roar of the crowds and urge you to compare it to the last race Formula 1 had in that cradle of motorsport that is Turkey. Consider it a clue.

Does not get much better than this fight amount the two Yamaha team riders on Sunday in Catalunya. I won't spoil it in case you missed it.

And here is the rest of it.

  2. Motorcycle racing has been pulling me back in lately. The World Superbike race at Monza this year (race 1) is one of the best races I have ever seen period.

  3. It was like a replay of the classic Rossi vs. Gibernau races. Rossi LIVES to beat Spanish riders IN SPAIN on the last turn of the last lap.

  4. this is really how it should be done. kudos to both riders. both are deserving. now if only someone could manage to do that on 4 wheels.

  5. Im also very sick and tired of F1 going to areas that just dont give a shit about F1. Sure its nice to try and expand and build a new fan base, but it appears that the Asian and Middle East fan base just isnt there and has declined in the past 4 years since they started going to these places.

But Burnie only sees dollar signs in his eyes when he goes to these places, not masses of roaring crowds cheering on.

Also part of the prolem is that Bernie charges so much money for these races that ticket prices are so high that no one can afford to go to them. Just look at Turky, they said that the city was packed full of race fans who enjoy having F1 there, but then at the track its 1/3 full at 33K people.

I would like to switch over to MotoGP/Bike racing in gereral because the cars have values that I like (aka no downforce, fast acelleraton, high top speed) but I just cant relate to them being a 4 wheel hardcore fan. The physics of how the bike reacts around a corner versus a car is just to Alien for me to really want to know whats going on there.

  6. the expansion into places like Turkey,Bahrain, Abu Dabhi almost smells like a credit crisis pyramid scheme now...

  10. Insane AC! Thanks for sharing, it's nice to know that there is some great racing going on. With all the drama in F1 it seems to eclipse the racing. :(

  11. Wow, amazing! That is some truly great racing, that battle MUST go down in history!

    Thanks for sharing.

  12. You mean some of you guys don't watch Moto GP ? The talent to ride a bike at that level is immense. There's probably a handfull of guys in the world who could get within a second or two of those guys but a few thousand who could get within a few seconds of Button in the same car.

F1 is done. Ruined by too many bad ideas by power hungry bosses. A 12 year old could come up with better tech specs to give closer racing than the FIA clowns.

  13. Great racing! Although Moto GP also has some boring races, it does happen much less often than in F1.

To the fellow riders: any clues on why Valentino is hanging his foot out in supermotard style? I'm guessing if he actually puts the foot down at those speeds he will not have an ankle to speak of! Is any one else doing it?

F1? Mehhh... All that keeps me watching is Brawn GP kicking major ass to the manufacturers.

  14. Rossi has been saying that he feels it helps him brake. It was discussed earlier on during the Speed coverage on Sunday (think it was this feed actually). It's a shame more "motorheads" here don't watch...oh right, Speed supposedly doesn't show racing ;)

  15. Stoner was doing it too, just not as much. Now my question is, aren't they downshifting? and when they do it on a right turn...no rear brake?

  16. It does not get that much better indeed! Thanks a lot for sharing this, I would have missed it otherwise.

When braking hard you don't need the rear brake on a bike (except a little bit at the start of the braking) because as soon as the masses have transfered to the front the rear is so light (sometimes even off the ground) using the rear brake sometimes even a little bit just means you lock the rear wheel, which makes the rear step out. Supermotard or dirt riders sometimes (on very tight turns) use the rear brake to lock the rear wheel and help turn-in by letting the rear of the bike go a bit sideways, in that case it's a little bit equivalent to doing a hand-brake turn in a car.
