McLaren's clever tire warming strategy.


Getting tires to correct the temperature is one of the more difficult aspects of Formula 1, more so at a cold track like Spa.

McLaren, for Spa, have made an interesting modification to its brakes that now do not push hot air out of through the wheel but vent it inside the rim. This solution allows the front tires to go up to temperature faster especially in a single lap qualifying situation. The down side of course is overheating but Spa is not considered an especially hard track for brakes.
