Axis Assie Award™ to Lewis Hamilton

I have been watching Formula 1 for longer than I care to admit, I have never seen a clown move such as what the "great" Lewis Hamilton pulled today in Canada.

I'm sure the general UK press, like the commentator in this clip ("he was CLEARLY unsighted..."), will blame Raikkonen for stopping, the FIA for deploying the safety car, probably even the Mclaren mechanics for not telling him the light was red.

I have a different theory, I think he was busy checking out the crowd to see if he was getting enough cheers. They may be laughing in Spain today....no wait, they are laughing all over the world.  Maybe Lewis wanted to make his father feel better for his own bonehead move crashing a Carrera GT while showing off to the neighbors.

Great for Kubica and BMW to inherit the win and the Championship lead. Massa got screwed in the first pit stop but then had the pass of the race when he outfoxed both Kovalainen and Barichello.

UPDATE:  Additional Assie awarded to Martin Whitmarsh of Mclaren who, complaining about the ten grid spot penalty imposed by the stewards on Hamilton, asked why Kimi Raikkonen did not get a penalized for running into the back of Adrian Sutil in Monaco.

I believe Mr. Whitmarsh has been around racing long enough to understand the difference between losing control of a car on a wet track in the heat of battle and running into cars stopped at a red light in the pit lane....

another clip.... here the commentator (James Allen, thanks st3ph3n) blames the team... Hamilton gives his patented "I'm a good guy" tap to Kimi. Kimi should have gone Senna on him.

  5. The commentator is James Allen. A man universally despised in the UK for being a completely useless twat.

Did anyone see Hammy's reaction after qualifying yesterday when he brushed himself off. Fair enough he put in a great lap, but he must have been taking lessons from P. Diddy in looking like a self important bastard.

  6. I was sitting right by the incident today...(pics coming). What a day LouHam crashing at a red light and Coulthard not running into anyone and getting third. Oh yeah and Kubica putting on a driving clinic, and even Nick doing a bang-up job. Hell- Mario Thiesen even smiled!

  7. i hate how negative this blog has become...

  8. I haven't seen a redlight at the end of the pit lane in quite some time and hamilton wasn't the only one caught out by it, Rosberg also screwed it up.
Just admit you despise Hamilton regardless of his actions and be done with it.
BTW, bringing up the off track misadventures of Ham's father is low-class.

  9. hmm, I think I had kimi falling over drunk and Montoya's classic "you broke my f...head" all were off track. I'm still working on the Flavio Flav porn video

  10. And BTW the issue is not wether YOU have seen a red light but that Hamilton and Rosberg did not while mysteriously Raikkonen and Kubica did.

Is it a conspiracy or do they have special powers?

  11. It's not negativity, it's reality... Ham made a monumentally stupid move. The stupidity of it is made more glaring and obvious by the fact that he's been likened to the second coming of christ since his debut. While i'll admit I'm not a fan, i will say he's a fantastic driver - which is all the more reason he shouldn't be making these ridiculous errors - and the reason he's subject to more scrutiny and ridicule than lesser drivers...

  12. OK Lewis screwed up. I Think thats down to experience and red mist inside his visor (try some FogCity LH!)

One thing i saw mentioned elsewhere that i dont think has been mentioned by the media is that Kimi and Robert were side by side. Is this allowed in the pitlane? [i dont know which, but surely this means either BMW or Ferrari released their car whilst the other was concievably in its way] If they were single file, LH would have had a much better chance of missing the stopped cars and even if he had gone through the end of the lane, at worst suffer a stop and go penalty??

And please dont forget Rosberg eff'd it up too so LH isnt alone anyway

  13. there is no way to defend, or justify what hamilton did. And comparing it to kimi's accident with sutil is comical.

Hats off to kimi, this guy stays cool in every possible situation, and seems to never give a shit about anything.

  14. Kimi and Robert were side by side, they have the first 2 pit stalls, theres no way to tell if they will come out side by side because by the time Kubica cleared his pit stall, Kimi had already started rolling out of his. even then, if they were single file, Lewis would of just ran into the back of the second car in line, he wasnt looking till the last minute anyway.

  15. The blast on LH is not only due to the stupid mistake, that every driver eventually makes, but well deserved due to the arrogance of his reaction and denial. Clearly proving his inner self doesn't deserve his talent, and hides such evil ego behind a well trained and polished media management mantra...

  16. oh i agree his ego is growing to a whole new level of annyingness. On UK TV they showed an interview where he was asked why he was so much faster (i think it was relating to Canada Quali) and his answer was along the lines of, "a good setup, a good car......... oh and the Driver" cue big cheesy grin
