Doune Right

4 comments:
Next time you feel like you don' have enough runoff, think of this video.
We are in Scotland at the Doune Hillclimb. The car, an MNR Vortx, is powered by a 1400cc Kawasaki engine.

90+mph on a path barely wider than the car is quite something but the real kicker must be that rocket launch and over the hill right turn at :56 in the clip!

Thanks to Stephen Hynds for sending us the clip and the info!

And here is the rest of it.

Where not to stand

The outside of hairpins at rallies or hill climbs never struck me as a great spot to choose... As it happened, lady luck was in a good mood that day, only the car was hurt.

We can rebuild it, we have the technology...

Actually I don't know if they went all 6 Million Dollar Man on this Lancia Integrale after driver/owner Felix Pailer went ballistic during a hillclimb in 2004

However a new shiny orange and yellow Integrale was back this year... good luck with it Mr. Felix "Steve Austin" Pailer!

Brutale: On board an Alfa Romeo 155 2.5 DTM...

An onboard video from a hill climb. It looks like a sped up video game...but it's not!

The engine note from the small displacement v6 which revved to 12000rpm is amazing. These cars were very succesful in European Touring car races in the early 1990's, beating out BMW and Mercedes on home soil for the 1993 DTM title with Nicola Larini.
