Delta missing something....

This global Delta Wing PR blitz got me thinking, if you are going to have a three wheeled thing (I know, the Delta has four but it looks like three), it's so much more awesome with a passenger hanging in off the side of the thing.

That naturally lead me to think Tourist Trophy and I believe you will enjoy the awesomeness of the sidecar bits in this clip as much as I did. Of course there is much more than just that to enjoy. Someone please bring this to an iMax theater near us soon, how can TT in 3D not be a success?

TT's in 3D!

At ease fellas, the 2010 TT going on this week, is being filmed in 3D for what will be an awesome theatrical and DVD release, what were you thinking?

Plenty more more goodies for this year's edition, all onboard cameras are now HD and those glorious ultra slow motion shots will be back. A works BMW bike is also running, the first official manufacturer present at the TT for ages.

The Isle of Man TT makes WRC drivers look like accountants. With the top riders lapping at an average...average, speeds of 130 mph(210km/h), the TT is clearly something even beyond even that famous quotation about motor racing, bullfighting and mountain climbing.

As good an excuse as any to watch the clip we put together last year, when Valentino Rossi and Giacomo Agostini paid a visit to the TT, again don't you think?

The Doctor and the T.T.

The Tourist Trophy is taking place this week and Valentino Rossi made an appearance on the Isle of Man with Giacomo Agostini to take in the scene, wave at the crowds and, probably, sell a few Yamahas.

A 34 mile lap makes the Nürburgring seem like a go kart track. That there are people willing to ride at speed on a track where the guard rails are made of trees, rocks and cattle wire is something I will never understand but will always be in awe of.

So imagine you are in a WRC car, tarmac rally, maybe Col de Turini or even better Corsica. Cliffs on one side, rock walls on the other you are probably averaging 50mph.

Now take away the car, the safety equipment and two wheels, raise the average speed to almost 130 mph and add sections where the road is lined with posts and barbed wire. That's the Isle of Man TT, the most awesome race event on the planet.

We talk a lot about the Nürburgring but for the last 100 years the TT's 37 mile course has been making the "Green Hell" seem like child's play. We have two videos, one is an overview from BBC coverage of the 2007 TT and the second is almost a complete lap onboard, with telemetry. It is a bit fuzzy however you can clearly see the speedo and it is terrifying. See if you can last the 15 minutes or so and then think that these guys do that six times, with practically any error meaning certain death. It takes a distinct lack of imagination and huge balls.
