Flexi-Wings, meet Pivot Wings

From the "If you ain't cheatin', you Ain't tryin'" files.   Mclaren are set to be...let's see, what would the the correct term... clarified  about a clever new front wing attachment system that is said to allow the whole wing to pivot on its horizontal axis.
This presumably allows for more efficient airflow under the car and towards the rear diffuser and the reason Mclaren have been so dominant in the last few races.

Mclaren, not surprisingly, denies. Read about it in Auto Motor Sport and pass the popcorn.

  1. So this is rotating left to right, which seems to be useful in cornering, and would add downforce to the loaded external wheel.

I'm surprised that they aren't flexing back, so as to reduce drag at high speeds. Maybe the flex test covers that?

    1. My understanding is that it tilts on the angle of attack, no?

    2. Autosport.com has a video illustration where they show the topmost flap of the wing tilting backwards and reducing the angle of attack at speed

  2. Is there no on-board video that shows the flex?

  3. Red Bull got away with illegal flexible front wings for years, why shouldn't everyone else have a go!
