...seriously...zzzz. OK, the fast Ferrari was as fast as the slower of the Red Bulls and McLaren though they made big claims about their race pace, were very disappointing. Wow, exciting.
I liked Perez's race. Hope Ferrari go for him in the future rather than the dreadful Jules Bianchi.
Going along with the "boring" theme, teams ratified a so called compromise over engines for post 2013, now they will be V6 rather than I4 but still 1.6 liters turbos....zzzzzz.

This race made me 'literally' fall asleep.
ReplyDelete"same shit, different pile' (to put it nicely) - Vettel wins again.
The only thing that was less exciting than this race was fox's, sorry SPEED, coverage. Either the commentators were watching a different screen then show to us or they are just clueless. Vettel has two second place finishes one in China and one in Canada.
ReplyDeleteThey need to ditch this track. That's 4 boring processional races in a row. Even all the DRS/Kers/Perreli fake drama devices couldn't keep this track from being a snooze fest.
ReplyDeleteI would say the biggest FAIL at Valencia aside from the scenery (no matter how many shot of babes in pool you but out, it's still racing in an industrial port) was the the DRS...jeezus, two passing zones and barely any passing, even the artificial kind.
ReplyDeletePlus, please bring back cars that break once in while! :)
NOMXJ, if you watched via FOX affiliates, it was on a tape delay for starters, and they're located nowhere near Spain (I'll give you a hint where they were: There was a book written about a talking pig and spider..).
ReplyDeleteHorrid, horrid stuff. After I watched a BBC feed, I got up a few hours later to watch the FOX feed b/c I missed the start (6AM sunday morning and all) and shut it off after the first lap. I'd have been better off if I'd just slept in and watched the tape delay FOX/Speed version.
The comments around the metasphere almost universally panned this race as utterly boring. Even Bernie was rumored to have left the circuit by helicopter around lap 10. I gues he didn't want to be around when bored/angry fans started damanding their money back. Something has absolutely got to change at Valencia - one wonders why they bother putting two races in Spain and then bicker about having too many races or too long a season, etc.
This race baffles me. It looks like it's being held in the Green Zone with all the concrete blast walls everywhere, the surroundings are horrible industrial units and the racing is less exciting than at Hungary or Imola.
ReplyDeleteJust a comment on the FOX coverage... I had DVRed the race; with fast forwarding through the commercials, I was literally able to watch the race in about an hour. Pathetic. Not that the SPEED coverage is great. Commercials every 4-5 laps, insane. I won't be doing that again. I think I'll download BBC coverage instead.
ReplyDeleteBBC is the best :-)
ReplyDeleteBut i must say, i think the most interesting part was the interview that Adriaan Newey gave at the BBC's red button forum...
IMHO, just remove the track...
"the interview that Adriaan Newey gave at the BBC's red button forum..."
ReplyDeleteThat was really nice actually. He's one of those people who know everything about the secrets of F1 and is brilliant besides. Some things about Audi's involvement in the engine regs I hadn't heard verified before, and some personal stuff that shows his human side perfectly.
I don't imagine he drinks much, but if he did, a pint or two w/him would be awesome...
Valencia as a race track is the worst, but in terms of its appearance it is absolutely beautiful (at least on TV).
ReplyDeleteValencia is a flat concrete tunnel. It is ridiculous for anyone to expect close racing when the drivers can't even see the exit to each apex.
ReplyDeleteIn it's current state, the circuit can not do justice to the sport.
I do think, however, that the response comment regarding the quantity of processional races in sequence was a bit much
