Hamilton kicks some sand in Button's face

Really, the only interesting thing about the Abu Dhabi race is the cat fight between the two Brit champs.

I figure Hamilton thinks Button is cut rate and only won because of his car and is bitter he's not the UK media's darling anymore. Button desperately wants to show he actually knows how to win without a massive car advantage.

They are playing on neutral ground, a track nobody has seen before and qualifying weights make it clear that they were both going for pole. Hamilton schooled Button who blamed a bad vibration in his brakes for 5th place, behind Barrichello.

Red bulls are in fine shape with a heavier fuel load. Good last qualifying for SauberBMW. Especially embarrassing show from Ferrari, right in front of their monumental amusement park. Luca Di Montezemolo looked distinctly un-amused.

Wow. Absolutely pathetic. It couldn't be that he just...you know.....wanted to drive fast. Nah that's crazy, race drivers never drive fast for the sake of driving fast. He has to have some hidden agenda, some personality flaw that only the mind reading AC can see through.
Your blog is usually spot on and features many fantastic videos and insights that can't be found anywhere else but your Ferrari fanboydom and rabid Hamilton hatred is frankly embarrassing.
Just because you do the occasional trackday doesn't mean you know what's going on in the head of an F1 driver you pompous twat.

  2. Ah, no. Racers don't want to drive fast for the sake of driving fast, that's what track days are for, racers want to pulverize their opposition and prove they are the best....at least the good ones. I was paying Hamilton the greatest compliment.

  3. I disagree with your analysis of your own comment, AC.

  4. I agree with AC - a lot of these guys are all ego and I think Hamilton is up there on that list. Button does have a lot to prove though - especially if he stays with Brawn, the worst thing that could happen is for him to fade into obscurity after another mediocre season.

  5. Sorry - a bit off-topic, but the wonderfull pic of the RedBull F1, can we have some info on it? Who shot it, etc? Thanx!

  6. How can Button have more to prove when he just won the World Championship? Do you have to win in a less than good car to be a true champion? I think the reality is that you got to be in a good car to win, and that's all to it. Button deserved to be in that car, he was faster than Barrichello and probably sleeps good at night.

Surely there's rivalry between the top drivers, but the analysis at the top just seems too far-fetched. Maybe this kind of tabloid journalism is what blogs are for, though.

  7. @David. It's not just "the blogs" but probably the sum total of the world's motorsport media who questioned Button's path to the championship this season (right or wrong) and how he has not won a race since the double diffuser issue was resolved and other teams caught up. At the beginning of the season Hamilton also got a lot of stick in the UK media who, of course, have a vested interest in pumping a rivalry.

But of course Button did win, there is no arguing with the numbers.
