2009 Bathurst 1000 Highlights

300 km/h side by side on a track that is maybe 3 cars wide. About 12 minutes of highlights including the restart for the final 3 laps. Time well spent.

  4. Coverage started on TV here at 7am and ran through until 6pm. That was after four hours of coverage of Friday and five hours Saturday. All on free to air.

Having raced there myself for the first time earlier this year I enjoyed this years coverage more than normal, although I have to say, all the whining about their time in the rain on slicks was nothing compared to the downpours we suffered on slicks (and I don't have a pit crew to change tyres so just had to carry on ;-).

  5. Did I mention that for fans around the track there was a alcohol limit imposed at the entry gates to the camp sites to keep it all 'responsible'.

Being a three day event the limit was per day.

    24 cans per day.

So 72 cans of beer per person was the ration.

Of course the creative big drinkers head up the week before and bury cases of beer so they can dig them up on arrival on race weekend when they've had to struggle through their measly rations.

  6. Free to air? As in satelite? Which channel?

  7. Free to air as in Network 7, one of the run of the mill, good old fashioned, no subscription, no special box required TV stations.

  8. The camera mounted in the footwell of Cameron McConville's car is a revelation! Such brilliant footwork- left and right foot braking as well as great finesse on the gas to control a 650bhp RWD car in the wet! Simply brilliant!
