Safety Car FAIL

Usually the safety car is there to prevent accidents. not so at this past week end's WTCC race at Pau.

  1. I particularly like the decision to avoid the blend line and cross directly into race traffic. Brilliant!

  2. This will be a great clip to show in the DE novice classroom sessions. I thought the SC driver is usually an experienced racer, but that is hard to believe seeing this clip.

Blind corner? Check. Drive straight out in to middle of the track? Check. Moving much slower than race traffic? Check.
    Bam!

  3. The best part of it all is, race control didn't even green light the safety car to roll out yet, it was suppose to be on standby.

  7. [During a pit stop]
Harry Hogge: All right. While we're still under a caution, I want you to go back out on that track and hit the pace car.
Cole Trickle: Hit the pace car?
Harry Hogge: Hit the pace car.
    Cole Trickle: What for?
Harry Hogge: Because you've hit every other goddamned thing out there, I want you to be perfect.

  8. Wow, all ive done is work corners and even I know not to cross the blend line. Just about every pit stop i would hear a blend penalty called out. What a dumbass.
