Let's Ride with Felipe Massa in Bahrein.

Helmet cams are our favorite, the ideal placement and the only one that properly conveys the idea of what the driver sees and where he's looking.
True for your track videos and true for Formula 1 drivers, in this clip the camera is not quite at Felipa Massa's eye level as he drives the F60 around Bahrein but on top of his helmet. We see much more than Felipe ever could....and you still don't see the new 2009 spec wide front wing!

And here is the rest of it.

  1. looks/sounds like the video is lagging the audio a little bit

  3. Quite a bit of button handling going on there. I'm particularly amazed at the one on the right of the knees, because I thought they were all in the steering wheel. Can't imagine running that same procedure lap over lap during racing conditions.

  4. I think the lagging is a common problem. Even experienced this with some itv videos on youtube...

  5. He gets on the power and never needs to get back off it. Always a good sign. Especially in a car that doesn't have as much rear downforce.

    In theory!

  6. Yeah I think we don't have much information on the circumstances, he doesn't look like he's pushing especially hard here...

  7. anyone have any idea what hes doing with his left thumb at around 0.31? the thumb buttons in that place on the older ferraris used to scroll through the digital display options, but this one triggers something symbolized by that red light.

  8. Very interesting to watch. I love a good helmet cam video... I'm trying to figure out what the #s mean on the wheel. The left is speed in KPH, the middle is obviously the gear, and the right is difference to fastest lap?

  9. I'm guessing the switch down by his knee is the brake bias?

  10. Brake bias is the lever by his knee. The left thumb buttons could be diff, or now, KERS or front wing adjustments.

Sure looks like a high workload, which driver will adapt to this the best?
