After watching this clip by the aptly named "DTMenthusiast" I keep wondering why DTM even bothers to exist in its present form. Watch the best tin top action ever knowing many, many control arms were harmed in the making of this video.
THere is something visceral about that era's DTM cars that is just not duplicated elsewhere... maybe it's just that there are so many well photographed curb hops!
Man, Europe gets the best racing. That said, it seemed like you would win more points based on how much of the suspension you could demolish by the end of the race.
I agree on the song and honestly, I considered changing it before posting but then, it is period appropriate and DTMenthusiast spent a lot of time synching it.... so I could not do that to him
Why do many forms of motorsport including DTM and F1 seem to be a parody of their glory years? Maybe back to basics at Shelsey Walsh is the way forward?
The V8 SuperCar series down in Australia seems to be the closest thing we have to that era of DTM. It's not just the cars that are more boring, it's also the circuits. All in the name of safety. Which leads me to ponder...is safety killing auto racing?
Fucking song Nazis. That video rocked no matter the music. One of the best videos I've seen in recent history. I have to agree that early 90s DTM racing was perhaps the peak of the touring car era, but current BTCC, WTCC and DTM is surprisingly interesting even when compared to the DTM of old.
awesome!!
ReplyDeleteThis kinda makes most other racing seem superfluous and silly!!

ReplyDeleteThis video would be over the top good if not for using one of the, if not THE, worst song that Van Halen ever produced.
