Ride in the Axis 458 Challenge at Daytona

Ride with Carlos in the Axis 458 Challenge at Daytona.   Above is race 1 on Friday, where CG scored a third place podium.   Note how top speed of the 458 is 184 mph in clear air but 191 drafting. Turn 1 apex speed is about 45 mph so you are scrubbing145 mph to make it around.  Hairy.

Below is race 2.   Track was damp on Saturday morning making conditions so tricky the pole sitter lost it on the warm up lap and crashed into the wall...D'oh!

At the start of first clip, Carlos makes a move for the lead into turn 3, losing his left mirror in the process.

In the second clip things get more exciting as CG, blind on his left comes under attack.    Did I mention turning in to the bus stop was tricky?

Meet the Axis of Oversteer Ferrari 458 Challenge.

Yup, it's wicked.

The Axis of Oversteer / Capital Managers Ferrari 458 Challenge will make its debut this week end in Montreal, competing in the Ferrari Challenge support races, Saturday and Sunday.   At the helm around the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve will be our own Carlos Gomez, aka CG, making his second appearance at the Canadian track.

Wrapped in chrome and dayglo orange, I don't think anyone will have trouble spotting this 458 either from the stands or in their rear view mirrors.   Many times in single make series, liveries can be a tad dull,  we think we don't have that problem with this one!

If you are going to be at the track, cheer for the Axis car and please do send us pictures!

Below is Carlos last year in Montreal,  he had to start last on the grid and finished 5th overall.

Lap Fuji onboard a Ferrari 458 Challenge

Many of you will be quite familiar with the Fuji track from playing Gran Turismo 5. Here's the real thing, riding in our friend HFO's Ferrari 458 Challenge on a very chilly late december day.

Theat's about 180 mph on the long straight but, as you might expect, cold weather and slick tires tend to not mix all that well and HFO did have a pretty close call ending up only inches from the guard rail on an out lap!
Check it out after the jump

Another full week end of racing around the world, F1 in Germany, ALMS, IMSA GT3 Challenge in Canada and on the other side of the world it's the second round of the 2011 Ferrari Challenge Asia Pacific on the Shanghai International Circuit.

... wait a minute...what is that I see???

That's right, our friend HFO (and we can call him Axis HFO from now on), Hideki Francis Onda has added the Axis logo to his awesome Tunewear/Focal Point inc. Ferrari 458 Challenge for this week end's race in China. Axis HFO knows well that the simple addition of an Axis logo will cut a minimum of 1.3 secs off your best lap time!!

Thank you Francis and have fun ripping that 458 Challenge in China!

Axis Stickers are available HERE
