Lotus still butthurt by Kimi Rakkonen's departure.
We all remember the whiny twitter posts from Lotus after Raikkonen announced he had enough of driving for free and would be off to the land of tortellini and Lambrusco. After statements proclaiming Gosjean as team leader, we figured things were tense at Lotus but not quite this bad.
The transcript in case you haven't figured it out:
Alan Permane: "Kimi, Get out of the fucking way!"
Kimi Räikkönen: ''Don't shout there fucker! I get out of the way when I have a chance, but not during fast corner''
The message was sent towards the end of the race as Grosjean was catching Raikkonen who was dealing with played out rubber.
Lotus apologized, possibly to to avoid a fine, and put a cute polar bear picture on their Facebook page...
“With hindsight, this radio message could have been sent in a less emotional way. There was a lot of tension, a lot of potential technical problems, and some of the words that flew around were simply not appropriate. Said Lotus team boss Eric Boullier “I know that quite a few people were surprised and I can only apologize for that on behalf of the team. It won’t happen again.”
Passive aggressive again.

I would not defend someone that is insulting other.

The thing is, in the Gentleman era there were more insults the only problem was it was not broadcasted live to million of ppl.
An again I prefer the old days...

i do think use of language is totally unnecessary, unless they already had heated exchanges prior to this msg, no body starts conv with those words. At the same time, i do not buy the excuse he gives, n push his team mate over the line, he was clearly defending, that is one of the overtaking corners on the track, if anything it should have been easier to let someone thru. it not really fast corner.
ReplyDeleteCome on... let's looks at the facts. Lotus owes Kimi a ton of money, and, given everything he has done for their team over the past two seasons, a ton of respect as well. They should be more gracious and accommodating. He is doing them a favor by going to Ferrari without making a big stink about the financials. Lotus is stupid to give Grosjean the favoritism that they do - the only reason he has had any success is because Kimi developed the car. Let's remember how many races Romain torpedoed folks before the end of the first lap. Further, Lotus is not treating Kimi fairly with pit stops and tire changes - he probably could have gotten on the box next to Grosjean on Sunday if they had pitted him a bit earlier. Then for Permane to shout and curse at Kimi over the radio? It shows an utter lack of professionalism on their part.
ReplyDeleteKimi couldn't make a one stop work when he wasn't able to manage traffic, Grojean did and was about 2 sec. lap faster when they were together, Kimi should have let him drive by, they were on different strategies at that point. RoGro manage traffic and his rubber, and out drove Kimi, that's it. Why is it so hard for the Kimi lovers to see the forest from the trees?
