Kimi at Ferrari is a done deal.

Fire and Ice,  Kimi in Red....the pun headline writers will be working overtime from now until wednesday when Ferrari will make the official announcement, according to members of British, Italian and German media.

Wednesday is the opening of the Frankfurt auto show so, it would seem to be be an occasion for headlines.   If it really is Kimi though, knowing the effect this would have on Massa, might indicate Ferrari has given up on the title chase for this year ahead of Singapore, the final possibility for Alonso barring the unlikely scenario of multiple DNFs at Red Bull.

If it really comes to be, Raikkonen would give Ferrari arguably the best driver pair going into the new turbo era for F1.  They both excel at reliability and both are fighters behind the wheels.

For the fans it would be a win win situation but will Ferrari be able to manage the human side with two roosters in one Scuderia after all these years with a clear top chicken strategy?

  2. Then where does Massa go? Who takes over at Lotus? Grosjean seems like a maniac - who do you pair with him?

  3. If "Fire and Ice" does come to fruition it'll be interesting times at Ferrari. In recent years, time and time again, Seb has humiliated Ferrari on more than a few occasions. Maybe Seb running away with another victory this weekend on home soil was the last straw. We'll see if two drivers approaching their mid30's have what it takes to put the kibosh on a driver in his mid20's. I've always thought Raikkonen lucked into being world champion because Hamilton and Alonso took points away from each other at McLaren. Granted every driver needs a little luck to be champion, but it would be ironic if Seb would benefit from Kimi and Fernando splitting their points. Keep in mind if Kimi did rejoin Ferrari, it would show how much respect Ferrari has for Seb's abilities. It's as if it's an admission that that they needed to bring in some help because Alonso didn't quite have the mojo to get the job done himself. Personally, I think Bianchi has fallen down the depth chart and this Hulkenberg kid now figures prominently in the mix.

  4. I'm guessing Sauber for Massa. I don't understand why people keep saying Grosjean is a maniac, he's been hardly that this year.

  5. The move probably isn't good for Alonso and his relationship with the team, but good for the sport. It'll keep the constructor's race a little closer and god forbid, motivate some of the other teams to try harder, instead of throwing up their hands because of Red Bull's dominance.

If McLaren are smart they take this trade as a second chance to go after Hulkenberg and scrap Perez, who was a mistake all along.

  6. It will be fine. It will push Alonso. Alonso can do all the interviews that he loves and Kimi hates. Fire and Ice is good. I like that.

  7. As long Luca di Montezemolo is part of Ferrari group I think Kimi has little to no chance to return to Ferrari.

  8. Kimi and Alonso, very good friends for a long time and this pairing will bring new positive vibes to the team. Great move and I see Kimi retiring from F1 from behind the wheel of Ferrari.
