Felipe Massa made his qualifying for the 2013 Monaco GP more complicated after this nasty crash in practice this morning. Massa was approaching the St Devote turn at the end of the front straight when a huge lock up put him into the barriers. It's not clear if it was an error on his part or if there was a technical issue involved but Massa will need a new gearbox and therefore will be hit with a five spot grid penalty.
Massa was not the only one crashing in the final practice session, Lotus' Romain Grosjean, right after turning the second fastest time had his second intimate encounter with the St Devote barriers this week end. Adrian Sutil crashed his Force India just before Casino Square.
