Here's a Ferrari 458 NOT driven like an idiot.

A beautifully driven, bone stock Ferrari 458 driven around Monza, topping out at around 180 mph on a track where mistakes cost dearly.

It will never get the monumental number of views the Chris Harris video did clowning around on a mickey mouse track but at least this driver did not have to borrow the car or lie stretch the truth to "tell a story" for ratings.

 Et tu Monkey?

Bravo Phantom!

  1. I don't understand, are you criticizing Chris Harris?

    1. I was just curious because I see nothing wrong with his comments about Ferrari, and you're known to not like it when your heros are criticized in any manner. I mean, it's not like you're always all over Ferrari/Alonso's dick anytime you get the chance. Harris didn't say anything untruthful about the entire situation, and I'm surprised that even you would take a low swipe like that.

    2. Thank you for that comment, er...anonymous. Let's set some things straight, Chris Harris' videos have been appearing on Axis since his early days at Autocar, since before anyone at Drive knew who the hell he was. I have said repeatedly that I think he's the most talented video journalist out there since Clarkson. I do worry about his moving more into the entertainment industry and away from core car stuff.

Now about that infamous anti Ferrari rant. While it went over with the Jalopnigentia and probably many on Pistonheads, in reality it amounted to nothing more than a hissy fit. The complaint was that Ferrari gives "tuned" cars to reviewers? tell me what performance car company does not. You realize car companies have fleets of cars just for press right? You realize at junkets, they put in different brake pads, yeah? You find that Ferrari would make sure their car is the way they think it should be when it's being tested, odd, really? I have had a car company exec (not Ferrari by a long shot) tell me he would NEVER lend a car for a comparo test unless he was guaranteed his car would win. Mclaren in some brit magazine test, sent mechanics, did anyone complain? no. So the whole, "Harris calls out Ferrari" bit is tiresome. and his playing it up in this video, kind of irked me, so I called him out on in. The video is fun, pointless as a review as Harris himself says in it and it's about, again as he says, driving it like a fool. Mission accomplished there, no need to feed the meme.

  2. See, the difference is Harris was just trying to be entertaining. It's kind of his job.

    1. Absolutely, I'm not criticizing his video, just his claiming he was doing something he was not really to keep the meme going. I expect that from Jalopnik because that is what they do. For Harris, I would have though a "I borrowed this one from a mate" would have been straight. But hey, showbiz, right?
