Ride a Monster Tiger in the Temple of Oversteer
by
AC
Tiny car + small block Ford V8 x Bias Ply tires = Awesome. The famous 1965 Sunbeam "Monster" Tiger driven at the 2012 Goodwood Revival by Tom Dyer.
It will be worth your while to set the video to full screen HD and check out the footwork. One of the cool things about the Goodwood circuit is that with its long sweeping corners, it requires little brakes. Which is just as well because period cars had no brakes.
Anyway, brakes only slow you down!

Can anyone explain to me the reason for tapping the brakes with his left foot before switching and braking fully with his right foot? Is it to warn following drivers?
ReplyDeleteNever seen that before.
He's priming the master cylinder, making sure he has pressure when he needs it
DeleteYes. Or if he gets knockback, he's putting the pads in place.
DeleteLove that he's only using 2 gears for the whole lap!
ReplyDeleteAt 1:20 he passed a VERY rare Coune MGB Coupe. On of only 50 built.! It is the silver/blue #15 car.
ReplyDeleteThis race also had the 3 Morgan +4 SLRs. I say THE 3 because that is all they made, 3. And they were all at Goodwood this year. The Revival is crazy, everyone should try to make it there at least once. There are "one of x" cars in almost every race.
