Lewis Hamilton is black

Lewis Hamilton

The Mclaren driver made a bid for "racing's biggest twat" title today after the Monaco Grand Prix. If you follow this blog you know how we feel about Hamilton and we usually catch a lot of flack from fanboys. I think today, after what can only be described as reprehensible behavior on track, Lewis showed his true nature, see for yourself...

Lewis could learn so much from a rookie... check out Paul Di Resta after the jump...

  1. Totally agree with him. The cars (and this track) are shit and he's one of the only guys who can actually overtake. People didn't get slapped wrists for trying to overtake 10 years ago. It's pathetic.

  2. And we have a fanboy already... did you actually hear what he said? that he gets to decide if he's an idiot or not? LOL. Plenty of people managed to pass today without nurfing the other guy. But I guess they are not black....

  3. I dont blame him for being pissed. Team screws him over in qualifying by having him wait to make a fast lap, and gets stuck at the end of Q3 in P10. Is jammed behind Massa for 10 laps being 1.5+ seconds faster a lap and trys to pass, and Massa turns in early on him to force him over the rumble strips. Then a pit stop during the race were the team calls him in, and clearly wasn't ready for him, another frustrating moment. And then at the and Maldonado didnt even attempt to race him into T1, Lewis had 1/2 a car up the inside of him and he turns in like no one was there.

People need to race clean, its all this Shumi-racer mentality that "I have this position and your not going to take it" bullshit. If there is a car inside of you, going into a corner then you have to give them room, its quite simple.

Im sure he will get flack for the "Maybe Im Black" comment, but everyone is tired of drivers saying "well I had a good race, but things were unlucky" and having some sort of scripted PR statement after the race. Finally a driver is pisssed, wants to speak his mind and does so. Isn't this what people want, people speaking their mind rather then some scripted PR statement?

  4. Hamilton was clearly the only racing driver out there today ... I don't think he deserved more then 6th place, but at least he's trying to race. At that requires taking risks ...

I feel more sorry for Button and Alonso, they deserved more.

  5. Brundle said it best, it's always someone else's fault with Hamilton. I'm wondering what race people saw today...granted the feed director had too many to drink last night but, still...

  6. It will be his fault when he wins in Canada too.

  7. For the record, Hamilton hit Maldonado's rear wheel... Lewis should have blamed drivers who's name starts with M...they all seem to "just turn in on me" LOL

  8. It was a good race. Good considering Monaco's standards.

It was only last year that Alonso had to start from the back in Monaco and then had to pass a lot of folks up the ranks. In Monaco we are always expecting a clash unless the car ahead is ready to give up fighting. It's not like in some races where two cars can try to do the same turn at the same time.

Fingers should be pointed at the DRS for the failings to aid in overtaking "slower cars". Alonso and Button couldn't overtake anyone for 30 or so laps, even though they were right at the tail of the car ahead with better KERS and even DRS.

Hamilton should just wear a smile at as many times as possible and keep it up. When he has leeway around the track he gets to do his job without knocking other racers out.

The top teams scored RBR 37, McLaren 23, Ferrari 18.

  9. Is it me or has he become really cocky/arrogant lately? Plus what the hell is he thinking with that chinstrap? He looks like an idiot, imo.

  10. I thought Lewis had demonstrated some growth over the past two seasons but today he took a huge step back to 2008.

His move on Schumacher was fantastic, but his remaining race performance and ridiculous post race commentary is indefensible.

  11. I'll have a race recap a little later but it's interesting that vs the maldonado pass, Hamilton was well alongside Schumcher and therefor, no crash. BTW Schumi put a proper move on Hamilton at the hairpin showing how to pass without crashing...

  12. Did Alonso punt Vettel after being 1sec a lap faster for 10 laps NO! Did button do that to Alonso NO! Hamilton is such a cry baby it's ridiculous. He needs to grow up and grow some balls and own up for his mistakes rather than putting people in the wall. Wake up and smell the coffee Hamilton. YOU AREN'T AS GOOD AS YOU THINK YOU ARE! Just another reason no other team wants him.

  13. Hammy may be black but he is definitely BLIND.

  14. Hey ac you should really think about using disqus for your comments and help keep the anons out

  15. I'll admit I'm a Hammy fanboy, but even I think lately he has become a little cocky. Him accusing everyone of blocking him comes to mind. However, I do think he is as good as he thinks he is, but he needs to work on his attitude and try to become a little more humble.

Also, this is a great point that I feel should be re quoted:

"Im sure he will get flack for the "Maybe Im Black" comment, but everyone is tired of drivers saying "well I had a good race, but things were unlucky" and having some sort of scripted PR statement after the race. Finally a driver is pisssed, wants to speak his mind and does so. Isn't this what people want, people speaking their mind rather then some scripted PR statement?"

  16. @ STeven: haha I get the feeling statements like Hamilton's are precisely why PR was invented :)

  17. AC you should stop being biased in your post, its really annoying. Shumi did the same thing that Lewis did to Massa, a dive bomb from a couple car lengths back to get under the car in front of them. The only difference is that Lewis yielded and was paying attention, Massa DID turn in early to try and block him and then left him no room causing the collision.

And really, you cant argue anything about Lewis vs Maldonado. Lewis was well beside him and Maldonado just turned in like there was no one there, he got what he deserved.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Hamilton was not well beside Maldanado. LOL

    ReplyDelete
  19. ...wait for the highlights...it's all there

    ReplyDelete
  20. Yup, LH didn't have position at all on him, this picture obviously showes LH dive bombed the hell out of him and forced his way inside. Hmm, strange that LH and MS could make it work just fine, but apparently Maldo didnt want to?

Firstly, register for a name. It is hard to take you seriously when you refuse to identify yourself.

Second, he admits the bias, and AC isn't saying that Hamilton doesn't get to be pissed, but he needs to not lash out publicly every time something doesn't go his way.

  22. This shows exactly why I don't like Hamilton. He is one of the best drivers on the grid, but his ego is bigger than his talent ! He thinks he's better than everyone, goes out, crashes into people and thinks it's their fault !

Just thinking, in the past, he's compared himself to Senna. On the BBC, they said he started the weekend saying he's "the only one that can beat Vettel, in a slower car". I'm surprised he's quick sometimes, with a head that big, it can't be good for the cars centre of gravity :P

    ReplyDelete
  23. No matter what people say I'm still convinced that he's the fastest guy in F1. Vettel is very good and I believe Rosberg is underrated but even though he's a cock sometimes Hamilton is the only one that occasionally makes me say "holy crap he's quick".

    ReplyDelete
  24. Hate to tell you Anon... but the only one who out drove his car this year is Alonso

    ReplyDelete
  25. Hamilton was under pressure to try to catch Vettel on the scorecards and the weekend just wouldn't go his way. If he had settled behind Felipe Massa it would have meant just a few points today.

And it's not just this weekend. It was some of the previous races. Hamilton needing to score big but things not going his way.

So let's see it from his viewpoint a little, please. It's true that he is not allowed a lot of mistakes as he is not a rookie any more. But he just hasn't had a lot to lose either.

Ayrton Senna used to have a catch phrase of "win or wall." Hamilton was living that phrase today.

  26. I loved the race, tons of action (the GP2 race was wild). Would have been fun to see those last 5 laps on their old tires instead of new ones. If Hamilton was making a sarcastic joke, then good for him, but if it was a serious statement, then shame on him.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I don't care what he's like off the track, he's one of the best drivers/racers/tracktards in the world, and you've got to respect him for that. Get over the drama; it's not what motor racing is about.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Hey AC, I think Alonso's Ferrari is a lot faster than you realise. I hope you're not comparing it to his teammates car? There is a reason he signed that long contract you know... It's also unfortunate Alonso couldn't beat Hamilton at McLaren during Hamiltons first year in F1...LOL!

    ReplyDelete
  29. In the incident with Massa to Toro Rosso ahead of Massa could take some of the blame. He takes an awkard line and makes Massa dive for the corner in order to avoid contact. In fact they make contact. Of course Hamilton was there with no where to go.
In the Maldonado incident there is no excuse. He was probably thinking in which disco to go later tonight with Nicole and Machete , or how good he looks with his "beard".

    ReplyDelete
  30. Who cares about Hamilton. Who we should be talking about is Button. He had a fantastic drive today even after his team went for a 3-stop strategy, he came out of the pits and made up like 23 seconds to catch Alonso & Vettel before all hell broke loose with 6 laps to go.

  31. AC has a history of having some hate bias towards Hami, but its his blog and quite frankly I enjoy it so thats that.

As far as Hami goes you either like him or you don't, he loves himself and sometimes it seeps into his interview but I think its pretty deserved. For the past few seasons he has been racing and overtaking like nobodies business. Not only can he get past the car in front of him, most of the time he does it in such an aggressive manner that if leaves the other pilot thinking weather or not to defend against him next time.

Anyone remember Monza two years ago when he started in 19th (I think) and in the pouring rain managed to get up to 2nd place and catching up to Vettel? He could of very well won if it wasn't for that botched tire choice from the team.

Anyway I'm glad he punted Massa. One can clearly see Massa turn in early to try to defend his position, I've seen him do it on Alonso many of times as well. Passing him is like trying to pass a big school bus on an alley way.

  32. I think it's understandable to see where Hamilton is coming from. He is second in the championship so it is easy to see why he is frustrated.

The fact that he has the balls to speak his mind in an era of PR dominate made up personalities gets my respect.

AC- the whole "I'm black" comment I think was a joke and said just out of frustration. Let the guy blow some steam off. I don't think you or anyone commenting on this blog (myself included) knows what it's like to be in his shoes.

I enjoy the blog, but the cheap shots at Hamilton are kind of shallow. And I have to wonder if you were in the same room with him if you would really be saying the same things to his face. My guess is no...

It's better to be respectful even if you don't agree with him and look at things with an objective point of view.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I admit, sometimes I think "holy crap he's quick" too. But it's just that when he's winning he seems to act like he's the best driver that ever lived. Then, when things don't go his way, even if it's his fault, he whines and cries about it !

I understand Hamiltons point of view, he wants to win ... I would want to too. But Alonso, Button, Webber etc all want the same, but they weren't hitting other drivers trying to pass

The Senna "Win or Wall" Hamilton lived that today bit ... he crashed two other cars out of the race today, and it got him two penalties ... just saying

  34. @ Anonymous

I stand corrected. I did go back to watch the Maldonado incident again and Hamilton was in fact closer to being alongside than I recalled.

I'll need to study this particular moment against his earlier pass of Schumi at the same corner, an effort that I praised. Perhaps I'll find that some of the blame can be laid at Maldonado, but I doubt that I will find the collision unavoidable on Hamilton's behalf.

The only thing that can really be said about his choice to move on Massa is that it was incredibly ambitious at best. I don't think race stewards should be handing out penalties for racing incidents . . . but there's not really a defensible degree of frustration that can account for his finger pointing and outlandish commentary.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Good to see him speak his mind, i do think massa turned a bit early on him. but the other incidents he looked so desperate. and hes been so arrogant and corky since day 1, and hes no way better than alonso.

and i really hate his hiphop gold accesories. he wears that and victimise himself for being black!

    ReplyDelete
  36. Lewis has always made passes that were a little too close, leaving little room for error and sometimes requiring the other driver to bail him out. Now his timing and/or judgment is and he is paying the consequences. Hey Lewis, if you don’t want to be called to the stewards, stop hitting people.

  37. I love everyone poo-pooing his crybaby attitude and how he's not a gentlemen's racer and blames other people for mistakes. Yet no one here would argue Ayrton Senna was one of the, if not the best driver in history.... did all of you start watching F1 like 2 months ago? Ever see Senna pre and post race after shit races? Apparently not.... Has Hamilton blatently taken someone out of a race to secure a championship, or rammed someone off the road, then waited 2 laps on the outfield to see if their car would give out?

Talent takes passion, passion breeds emotion, emotion causes you to do and say some stupid things. Alonso has said and done some stupid things, Schumacher has done and said some stupid things. Hammy's one of the most talented drivers in the field right now, and he won a championship at an age before some of the legends even sat foot in an F1 car. He is a crybaby, cause he IS a baby. It used to be 35 year old men battling it out, now it's kids who can't legally drink in some countries.

All that being said, I think Massa was 100% his fault, Maldonado was 100% Maldonado's fault, and he (Hamilton) was a big douche after the race. ALSO all that being said, he still has the best racers personality out of anyone in F1 right now, has the biggest balls, and is the most fun to watch. Bring on more of the Hammy hate, cause it just means he's doing his job (entertaining me) better then anyone else!
