Axis 1 Lap: Axis takes class win!

1 Lap of America:@ Barber Motorsport

It will take me a little while for my, er...."staff" to sort through pictures and videos but the news is that we did take a class win in SSGT1-Small Bore and a 20th overall of the 2011 One Lap of America. Not too shabby for a last minute, first time entry on stock sized tires!

While I gather our thoughts and materials, I'm sure you'll enjoy some of the more creative post race tire shredding celebrations and re-landscaping of the TireRack's skid pad.

  1. Congrats! Maybe next year you can enter with that Dinan beast working and whip all the turbo crap in to shape!

  2. Congratulations on a great result for you and the shoebox!

Please be sure to answer these two questions in your report:
    1. Is Leah Keene's GTR RWD? I'm sure that kind of drifting wasn't approved by Nissan's engineerig dept.
    2. How can a couple of 20 year old "Econo car" finish 7th and 10th? :o

  3. That GTR has to be RWD because you can see the front wheels turning in reverse. Can the AWD system direct 100% to the rear?
    oh, and congrats!

  4. Haha, the black civic was supercharged AND turbocharged, I think the owner told Eric it was good for something like 320hp to the wheels and weighed as much as two toasters. The white crx also totally stripped liked using tire earners and Hollis claimed it can do the 1/4 mile in the 12s. It weighed as much a single toaster :).

The gtr got its front driveshafts disconnected for the drift session. At least that's what I was told. Kinda foggy now

  5. I was recently watching an onboard of Leah Keene in that GT-R at the Virginia course. Man that cars a beast.

Oh and congrats AC, glad to see an Axis win!

  7. to add to the 7th place civic question:

the guys running it are both hardcore fsae members. They finished 8th last year too.

other than the engine, the suspension and brakes are redone. dual brake cylinders! (for brake balance tuning) insane amount of engineering in that car.

  8. Yes, they removed the front driveshaft from the GTR in the few minutes between the skip pad and the drift session...supposedly an 8 bolt job. And the civic was particularly well done...we also liked how he disconnected the brake lights for the time trails!

  9. By far the worst thing I've ever seen on Axis. What is the point of that shite?
