The unexpected was Mclaren's sudden downfall, especially with Button. Hamilton too must not bee a happy camper starting on the dirty side tomorrow.
But I'll let the video do the talking... we can discuss Webber's charges of favoritism in the comments.

AC - if you watch the Alonso and Vettel telemetery it's interesting for 2 things - firstly how little time Vettel spends off the throttle for the first turn. It's pretty clear that the Red Bull is just absolutely stuck like glue round there which gives him a slingshot up the next section.
ReplyDeleteSecondly though - it could just be the data read outs but if you watch when the Red Bull is on the brakes for Maggots - there is a hint of throttle there to. Could that be the quali map that RB are running that helps drive the exhaust driven diffuser that little bit more by retarding the ignition on closed throttle. There was an interesting piece on it son Scarbs's blog - basically like how anti-lag works in a turbo car.
Oh and one last thing - no matter which F1 car you are in that corner requires balls of steel. Awesome to watch.
Also, compare the G-load between Alonso and Vettel. It seems Vettel is pulling an additional 0,5Gs through Copse and Beckets compared to Alonso. Talk about downforce difference between the Ferrari and the Red Bulls.
ReplyDeleteIt is the RBRs race to loose.
Figure that that video is from practice and they were lapping more that 2 seconds off the ultimate lap speed and all on hard tires. I'm sure Vettel was flat on softs during qualifying. But 5G??? damn.
ReplyDeleteWow, just wow, the amount of grip is crazy.
ReplyDeleteI heard Lewis comment somewhere (post-qualy conference perhaps) that the Redbulls were flat through there during qualy. I can't process that, taking Copse without lifting at the very least.
But god damn Redbull are pissing me off, Horner is a real bastard, I'm losing so much respect for him and the team. Take the front wing off Marks car and chucking it on Sebs is unbelievable and just so unnecessary.
Apparently it was because Seb was faster during prac, but Mark was quicker in both prac 2 and 3, I just don't get it.
Favouritism much?
Gah, I'm raging hard over this.
Righto, Mark takes out Fernando because hes agro and starting on the dirty side, and Sebs front wing falls off again because he rides the kerbs too hard, which puts it under his front wheels and he parks the car in the gravel for sweet justice.
I don't want Lewis to win, because if he does, we will never hear the end of it, so hopefully Kubica goes crazy and wins.
Yeah, I noticed that .5 G delta between Alonso and Seb. its astounding, the level of downforce redbull has at their disposal, seb seemed like he was on rails.
ReplyDeleteRed bull seemed to have thrown every management book into the toilet seat, I can only imagine how Webbo feels right now.
On to the race, I am looking forward to an Alonso win in the race and a Spanish win later in the evening. Did anyone see Alonso's new kicks?
