My worst experience with tyres on a trackday was when I noticed that only the bottom half of the word bridgestone was left. That and the fact the rest of the tyre was visibly bubbling.
I was a proper track noob and actually had to drive home on those. In the Scottish rain.

Underinflation and lack of camber will do that pretty quickly! we've all been there :)
