Axis @ Summit Point Raceway.

(posted for BadBadM)

As the sole Axis member who joined the Del-Val BMW CCA chapter for this year's 3-day event at Summit Point Raceway , I have to say this group runs one of the most enjoyable BMW driver schools in the country. Registration is a cinch, the southern barbeque cookout and kegger was simply spectacular on Sunday night, and the people are not just friendly hosts but supremely knowledgeable ones at that.

Let's get to the good part: first we spent 2 days on SPR's 1.0-mile "Jefferson Circuit"... running it counter-clockwise on Saturday and clockwise on Sunday. The track almost deserves a different name for each direction, because it becomes another animal when you drive it the opposite way.

Monday was spent storming the "Big Track" at Summit Point, a superb 2.0-mile road course with great elevation changes, crazy-fast sweepers, and a nice combination of "whoa this is technical!" and "I just need more power and/or brakes!"

Take a look at the video below to see a couple of fun laps from an early session on Monday. They're not barn burners (in the 1:33 range IIRC), but a good time nonetheless, especially for a first visit to this venue.
